h*one meeda hunting license tho work around undi, but hunting weapon ki unna restrictions vary largely by state. Caliber kuda restrictions untai state batti. Hunting rifle/hand gun ni nuv personal defense ki carry cheyalevu most of the states. Home defense ki use avtundi, but ikada kooda chala grey area undi. Castle Doctrine law ani untundi choodu , try to read and understand it. Stand your ground law ani untundi , most red states fall in to this category and blue states adopted duty to retreat laws. Almost law exam la prepare ayyi , if you are confident then pull the t*rigger if you can obey the ton of rules while being a brown gun owner. Chala pedda responsibility , almost cobra ni penchukovadam laga natu ga cheppalante. I can offer fair range of suggsetions on which one to buy. Read concealed carry / open carry as well.

Self defense ki ani ledu kada. I bought it for recreation. Target shooting mostly.

yes non lethal ... but can hurt if shot in close range ..

but they are good enough to scare animals ... on the trail like bears, mountain lions, coyotes

This is completely wrong, you are further aggravting the situation. Carry bear spray if you can't carry at least a 9mm or better. Bear spray and common sense would work wonders.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Castle_doctrine#:~:text=Illinois has no requirement of retreat.&text=No duty to retreat from, force against a public servant.

Go to the section where it says - "State-by-state positions in the United States".  That is only 0.1% of the picture. Mee state lo self defense attorneys untaru, general ga valla blogs untayi ee concept meeda and city muncipalities impose further restrictions in addition to the already existing state laws. It is highly suggested to  add the self-defense insurance to your home and auto insurance plan. Transporting and carrying across state lines is another grey area .
