Higher judiciary doesn't have reservation and they are the most corrupt and incompetent institutions in the country 

Reservation makes sense in many departments , you don't need much skill to carry out regular govt work, you Just need integrity but that's lacking in every class

And they should be rewarded better. Two of my classmates left ISRO in few years for jobs in private sector. ISRO is almost self sufficient from finance perspective.

Reservations was a decent concept to uplift the lower castes. But the benefits should not be extended beyond 1 generation or the 2nd generation should get lesser benefits. Design should have been something similar. Also reservations should be limited only to certain types of jobs which does not need real good skill. Most importantly there should be periodic assessment for performance in govt sector.

Good concept, bad design and horrible implementation.
