How far do you think is NASA ahead of ISRO.

The other way is how much is NASA budget?

People talk a lot about budget in dollars when comparing countries.. but for the same dollars, we get more done in India than in US.. China may do even more with the same amount of dollars..

there are so many private players that help NASA.. India also should encourage private players more..

the way NASA budgets its program is vastly different from the way ISRO does. ISRO quotes its expenditure like a supplier would to a client, quoting the lowest to impress and bag a contract..

NASA quotes its budget like homemaker that has to factor in all expenses, fixed and variable. It includes all expenses, starting from r&d of all the materials used, to the final launch factoring in 4-5yrs of the program..

the private players that 'help' NASA are like military contractors.. overcharging for everything because there's very less competition..

spacex has managed to bring in the competition, but with a dumbfcuk CEO like Musk, they make wildly optimistic claims, constantly overshoot their budget and beg for investment dollars every 6 months, while underpricing their service, to undercut the competition.

the 'market' for space is a made up one. Right now only grifters like Musk exist as private players in it. Until viable asteroid mining becomes a reality, and even then, I don't see much improving.

Today YouTube suggestions showed Apollo 11. That time itself they had awesome Landing video.

NASA is a full fledged research organization.. ISRO mostly operates as a contractor, that conducts a few space programs of its own now and then. so you can't compare them.

Two generations ahead. When NASA started its journey, they had to start from the scratch and no one had no idea what space exploration is all about. When ISRO started its journey, humans already benefitted by earlier exploration by soviets and Americans and we did not had to scratch from zero but we had our own problems too.

NASA vs ISRO difference is not only in budget but quality of people as well. May be few people ISRO lo very good emo but in general not even comparable to NASA.

NASA is on the forefront of pushing the boundaries with its R&D, most of the other space agencies follow suit based on research published by NASA and it's close peers.

Even in rocket(s) gen lo ISRO is atleast 3 gen behind, compare cost per KG to send to space for further distances. ISRO competes as low cost player for smaller payloads.

I am not taking sides on either but objective fact enti Antae, India lo R&D annadi almost next to nothing, most of the R&D is focused on making it cheaper(we are not the best).

I am a graduate of top 10 Indian Engg universities, 2 of my profs are ex ISRO scientists, 3 of my friends got placed in BARC in campus. I can speak to the quality of these to the ones in US universities or R&D centers. Literally laughable India lo.

For sure I can tell one thing, India lo top 10 universities profs kanna US lo top 50-70 profs 90percentile kanna better easy ga.

That being said what ever ISRO is doing in its means is nothing short of phenomenal but all of us should objectively recognize and accept the truth and strive to close the gap.

both have different budgets and different starting points . so cant compare.

but isro can really be self sustaining if they can provide cheap rocket launch services for other countries and corporations. future lo space tourism , mining etc are gonna be a big industry. india is in very good place to carve out some share there.
