That bill doesn't take away your kids.. It just makes gender affirmation part of the custody process, and *can*, not will be one of the criteria on which custody is granted to a parent.

it means that the kid will still end up with one of the parents, not taken away from both the parents.

Santosham.

senate hearings lo nay undhi ga..

custody issues enduku osthaay, if the parents agree to commit to a process of understanding where the child comes from?

the issue here is that the kid is not safe in a household where one of the parent is hostile to his decision. Why do you think a child should be forced to live in that situation?

US and the west are good enough to get stuck in. he/she can find a way out if they really really want to go to middle east. we can't plan kids future to the last minute anyway. Its the kid's decision.

At what age can child say what he/she feels like opposite sex? 10 year-11year kid says something like this and if one parent thinks its not correct and is not best for child. Instead of resolving it, state will send police. ee scenario fine aa?

parents don't have any special rights on their kids, apart from being caretakers..

lite teeskondi..

if the child is not allowed to choose, it is child abuse.

also first learn about the process.. No one goes under the knife straight away.. It'll take years of counseling to even put the kid on hormone blockers..  and then on hormone therapy. If anything, the process can be sped up, if the parents don't act like assholes on this.

according to research, less than 5% of the kids that  gender transitioned were unhappy about the transition, most likely because of they were perceived in society, and not because of the transition itself.

why does the parent think its not correct? that is the question. Its an opportunity to have a conversation and learn where the child comes from, instead of dismissing the child as immature.

no one will be put into hormone therapy the next day, if a child comes home and claims that they feel like the opposite gender.

It is upto you as a family to resolve it. talk it out.

actually even 10, 11 yr old may be too old to start the process of transition, that involves atleast an year of consultation. ideally it should couple years earlier.

the bill may be a little too aggressive, but it is warranted in a system that put child's safety at risk by insisting that the child stay with a parent who is disapproving of a kid's intention to transition.

yes legally it is true. inspite of what conservative americans believe.

that's why they have a Child protection service.
