Thoughts on CMs who preceded CBN, excluding NTR?

Before YSR dominance, Congress (I) was disunited and full of various groups.

• Chenna Reddy
• Janardhan Reddy
• Vijayabhaskar Reddy
• Anjaiah
• Jalagam Vengal Rao
• Some other one I forgot

Were they better or worse than NTR, CBN, or YSR?

I don’t think they were the worst. They were not super efficient but then again Indian economy itself did not had scope for any impressive development space in infra or any other sector. We were still focusing on basic education, food security, water, fulfilling minimum basic needs and I think all these CM’s did fairly decent job.

Any CMs in particular who went above and beyond. Or ones that really dropped the ball.

I think Kasu and Chenna Reddy went a bit above than taking orders from their high commands. I read they had considerable clout among all the CM’s. Other than that, PVNR was a soft person and went on his own path with socialist ideals but his journey was cut short by the high command and promoted up the rank.

What about Janardhan and Vijayabhaskar Reddy?

Chief ministers did not have much  leverage in those days as everything was centrally planned . Private industry was non existent. 

Most of their families are worth less than an average MLA these days , so they were also mostly honest

Janardhan reddy was an incompetent moron , he achieved nothing . He has no legacy to show. Even minor irrigation projects in his constituency was built by other people after his rule 

To understand how incompetent this moron was , he lobbied to change the alignment of NH16 away from kota, Vidyanagar because he thought big highway would increase land value and people will not listen to him if they get rich.

none of them won the CM seat with a thumping majority like Jagan.

i don't know much but my uncle used to say he is less corrupted and able administrator and Indira gandhi did not allow him to perform ani..anthe

Jagan didn’t have to win Telangana. Congress needed to win there.
