Midnightsun Posted September 13, 2023 Report Posted September 13, 2023 The ideal of Lone Ranger masculinity is culturally dangerous, especially for young men who might be lured into thinking that a life free of responsibilities and relationships will be better. It is also anthropologically false. Masculinity has always and everywhere been defined socially, in relationships, rather than by retreat. Men without women are not living out a dream of Marlboro Man freedom. They are taking drugs and, too often, taking their own lives. Australian researcher Fiona Shand and her colleagues looked at the words that men who have attempted suicide most often use to describe themselves. At the top of the list: “useless” and “worthless.” By: Richard V Reeves Richard V. Purpose based on pleasing women? How about motivated by sex. That’s also a purpose. But not many women interested or have the courage to openly ask for these kind of men Quote

At some point they are bored or when their achieve theirs. Hence resorting to drugs or suicide or other stuff. Where as married men have responsibilities, and make their kids/family well being a priority (Whether they like it or not) and hence their family goals become their goals and pushes them. Quote
