Take any term insurance.. monthly 35$ ala vuntadi.. NY life is one of the best..

Always take separate term insurance, one can lock in fixed premium for the term tenure. 

Employer insurance will be elapsed once the employee quit and also its generally limited to 1 to 3x of salary.
