my MacBook Pro 16GB RAM 1TB HDD from 2012 still works fine with no issues. Replaced its battery once, that's all.

Cannot update to the latest version of macOS because it has a brain from 2012 (which is understandable and cannot expect it to work like new now).

Mac for sure . go with any silicon chip .. M1 is good as well.

note : my primary phone is android. i am not apple fanboy. but Mac and iPad are so good.

iPhone 6s from 2015 still going fine here and still looks brand new. Just replaced its battery once last week, works like new now and can use it for another 2-3 years. That will be 10+ years. Even after that I can still use it for playing music, podcasts and more. Yeah! I'm not going to ask which other brand phone runs for 10+ years without any issues and still looks brand new and still can be used for music/podcasts beyond 10+ years.

where are you getting these 3-year numbers and notions from? try them before making vague statements.

Buy an HP laptop. Don't buy the Best Buy(Envy, Pavillion, Spectre etcc) HP models. Buy the HP business model laptops. They will last as long as a Macbook. Commercial HP laptops are designed by HP but manufactured by Taiwanese and Korean companies. Not much quality control

HP designs business laptops and HP controls manufacturing. You can run many applications and install Vmware workstations to run Linux. Can be used to play games and also comes with Nvidia GPU's for any kind of AI/Ml programming 

If you buy any of these, you should be good. They are as pricey as Mac, but you can get deals during special US days like Memorial Day and Thanksgiving. I have been using one for the past four years, always on and on docking station. No issues till now.
