veerigadu Posted November 8, 2023 Author Report Posted November 8, 2023 It was difficult to walk on the streets because of the corpses. The condition of the farmers remained worse during Shah Jahan's entire reign. Abdul Hamid Lahori has written about the famine that people were facing severe torture. And when all this was happening, Shah Jahan laid the foundation stone of the Taj Mahal in 1632 AD. Today, our historians have presented Shah Jahan as great in our books. Quote

Sanjiv Posted November 8, 2023 Report Posted November 8, 2023 It is said even though Shah Jahan loved his wife dearly to build the monumental Taj Mahal, he was extremely cruel to his own daughters and their lovers. One time, his daughter and her bf were together when Shah came along, suspected her bf hiding inside a big pot of water, had his servants create fire under the pot, the bf got boiled and died inside the pot as he was scare to come out and be killed. The Mughal king Shah Jahan, who built the Taj Mahal, married his own daughter Jahanara after Mumtaz's death because she looked like Mumtaz to Shah Jahan. To ensure no one could recreate the Taj Mahal's beauty, Shah Jahan supposedly severed the hands and gouged the eyes of the artisans and craftsmen. However one architect escaped, ran away and built Bibi ka Roza in Aurangabad similar to Taj Mahal (that's what the guide told me when I visited Aurangabad when I was a kid). Quote
