Most politicians don’t directly own all their wealth. They have multiple hidden binamis from their inner circle involved. Politicians might own a small percentage of it. But the majority of wealth is distributed to their group.

That way it’s harder for ruling govt to target you. Plus it strengthens your network because your followers are motivated to keep you in power and gain some wealth themselves. Even Zaganna and Sandranna don’t directly have all the vast wealth that they looted. 

There are disadvantages though as some binamis might take the money for themselves. I remember a swami was binami for some big Karnataka politician. But swami refused to give back a large amount of money for elections. As a result, the politican lost elections.
