కన్నీళ్లు తెప్పించిన Zomato delivary boy కథ Source : Ashok vemula garu మా అబ్బాయి మోక్షజ్ఞ బిర్యాని కావాలన్నాడు.. హోటల్ కి వెళ్లి తేవాలంటే ఒళ్ళు బద్దకం కదా.. జొమాటోలో రెండు బిర్యానీలు ఆర్డర్ ఇచ్చా.. ఈ 'బద్దకం' కూడా ఒకందుకు మంచిదే. ఎందుకంటే..మాలాంటి బద్దకిస్టుల వల్లే కదా.. కొంతమంది నిరుద్యోగులకు డెలివరీ బాయ్ ల కింద ఉపాధి లభిస్తోంది.. జొమాటో యాప్ ఓపెన్ చేయగానే 'ON TIME OR FREE 'అనే అప్షన్ కనిపించింది.. దానికి అదనంగా ఇంకో ఇరవై తీసుకున్నాడనుకోండి.. ఇచ్చిన టైం లో డెలివరీ ఇవ్వకపోతే ఆ ఫుడ్ మొత్తం ఫ్రీ అనేది దాని సారాంశం..'ఫ్రీ 'అనగానే దానికి పడిపోని భారతీయుడు ఉంటారా... ఆ అప్షన్ కింద రేటింగ్స్ చూసుకుని మరీ ఒక రెస్టారెంట్ నుంచి బిర్యానీ ఆర్డర్ ఇచ్చా.. అక్కడి నుంచి గేమ్ స్టార్ట్ అయింది.. జొమాటో యాప్ లో నేను మా అబ్బాయి శాస్త్రవేత్తల మాదిరి వెదుకుతున్నాం.. ఆర్డర్ రెడీ నుంచి మొదలు పెట్టి డెలివరీ బాయ్ బైక్ సింబల్ మ్యాప్ లో మూవ్ అవుతున్న ప్రతి అంశం భూతద్దంతో చెక్ చేస్తున్నాం..సగటు భారతీయ మెంటాలిటీ కదా.. ఒకవేళ డెలివరీ బాయ్ అనుకున్న టైం కి ' ఫుడ్' డెలివరీ ఇవ్వకపోతే..జొమాటో మొత్తం ఫుడ్ ఫ్రీగా ఇస్తుంది కదా.. బుద్ధులు ఎక్కడికి పోతాయ్.. అందుకే బాయ్ లేట్ కావాలని ఎదురు చూస్తున్నా.. టైం స్కెల్ మీద 32 నిమిషాల నుంచి తగ్గుతూ వస్తోంది...ఇంకా ఇరవై నిమిషాల్లో డెలివరీ అని చూపిస్తోంది.. యాప్ లో రెడ్ కలర్ లో బైక్ సింబల్ వేగంగా కదులుతోంది.. లేట్ గా వస్తాడా..టైం కి ఇస్తాడా ని ఎదురు చూపులు..లేట్ అయితే బాగుండు అని కుట్రపూరిత ఆలోచనలు.. ఇంకా పదిహేడు నిమిషాల్లో డెలివరీ అని టైం చూపిస్తున్న టైం లో జొమాటో నుంచి కాల్ వచ్చింది.. అవతలి నుంచి డెలివరీ బాయ్.. ఆయాసపడుతూ మాట్లాడుతున్నాడు.. సార్.. వస్తున్నాను సర్.. కొద్దిగా ఆలస్యం అవుతుందేమో సర్.. క్షమించండి ..అంటున్నాడు.. అప్పుడే నాలో ఒకప్పటి కన్నింగ్ నాగభూషణం, రాజనాల, రావుగోపాల్ రావు, అమ్రిష్ పురి లు మేల్కొన్నారు.. ఒంటికన్నుతో జొమాటో యాప్ చూస్తూ యాహూ ..అని అరిచా.. ఇవాళ 493 రూపాయల బిల్ మిగిలిపోయినట్టే.. వాడు లేట్ అవడమే నాకు కావాలి.. ఫ్రీ అప్షన్ కింద మొత్తం కొట్టేయాలి.. నాలో ఉన్న కక్కుర్తి టన్నుల కొద్దీ ఆ టైం లో బయట పడింది.. పైకి మాత్రం ఆ కుర్రాడి మీద విపరీతమైన ప్రేమాభిమానాలు కురిపిస్తూ.. పర్వాలేదు..జాగ్రత్తగా రా..అని చెప్పా.. ఎదుటోడి కష్టం గురించి ఆలోచించకుండా మన స్వార్ధం మనం చూసుకున్నప్పుడు వచ్చే ఆలోచనలు బుర్రలో కిలోల కొద్దీ పైశాచికానందాన్ని నింపుతాయి.. ఇలాంటి టైం లో మన హోదా, స్థాయి ఏమీ గుర్తుకు రావు..ఎదుటోడు నాశనం అయిపోయిన పర్వాలేదు.. మనం మాత్రం బాగుండాలి కదా.. ఆ అరగంట లో మనకి ప్రపంచంతో సంబంధం లేదు..ఎలాగైనా సరే 'బేవార్స్' గా బిర్యాని దొబ్బేయాలి అంతే.. టైం దగ్గర పడింది... ఇంకో ఐదు నిమిషాల్లో డెలివరీ అని చూపిస్తోంది.. నేను విజయానికి చేరువలో ఉన్నాను.. రన్నింగ్ రేసులో ఉన్నోడు..పక్కోడి కంటే ఒక సెకన్ వెనుక పడినప్పుడు. ముందున్న వాడికి గుండె పోటు వచ్చి పడిపోతే.. నేనే ముందుకెళ్తా అని దుష్ట ఆలోచనతో ఎదురు చూసినట్టు, ఓడిపోయే క్రికెట్ మ్యాచ్ లో వర్షం వచ్చి మ్యాచ్ ఆగిపోతే బావుండు అని ఎదురు చూసే క్రికెటర్ లా.. నేను ఎదురు చూస్తున్నా.. అప్పుడే మళ్లీ ఫోన్ వచ్చింది...సర్..అడ్రెస్ ఒకసారి చెబుతారా.. మీ స్ట్రీట్ లోనే.. ఉన్నాను..అంటున్నాడు డెలివరీ బాయ్.. అప్పుడే ఎలా వస్తాడు..రాకూడదు..వాడు టైం కి వస్తే నా పధకం ఫెయిల్ అవుతుంది.. వాడిని ఎలా అయినా సరే ఇంకో ఐదు నిమిషాలు లేట్ చేయించాలి.. అని ఎక్కడున్నావ్ అంటూనే సెకండ్ ఫ్లోర్ బాల్కనీలోకి వచ్చి ఫోన్ మాట్లాడుతున్నాను.. ఇంతలో అతనే కింద నుంచి పైకి అరుస్తున్నాడు..సార్.. మీరే కదా పైన ఉంది అంటున్నాడు.. అయ్యో దొరికిపోయానే.. ఇంకా ఎలాగోలా లేట్ చేయిద్దామనుకుంటే.. నన్ను చూసేసాడే.. ఏమి చేయాలి.. మనకి బేవార్స్ బిర్యానీ దక్కదా.. అనేలోపు ఆ కుర్రాడు పైకి వచ్చాడు.. రెండు ఫ్లోర్లు ఎక్కి పైకి వచ్చి బ్యాగ్ ఓపెన్ చేసి రెండు బిర్యానీ ప్యాకెట్లు చేతికిచ్చాడు.. అప్పుడు యాప్ లో చూసా.. ఇంకా ఒక నిమిషంలోడెలివరీ అని చూపిస్తోంది.. సార్ లేట్ అయ్యుంటే..సారీ సర్ అంటున్నాడు.. అప్పటికే చెమటల తో పూర్తిగా తడిసిపోయాడు.శీతాకాలం చలిలో కూడా అతను వేసుకున్న ఎర్ర చొక్కా.. చెమటతో తడిసిపోయింది.. నుదుటి నుంచి చెమట చుక్కలు కళ్ల మీదికి కారుతుంటే తుడుచుకుంటున్నాడు..చూడటానికి బక్కపల్చగా ఉన్నాడు ఆ కుర్రాడు..నన్ను చూసి లేట్ అయ్యుంటే కాస్త చెప్పకండి సర్..నాకు పెనాల్టీ వేస్తారు ..సైకిల్ కదా .. తొక్కి.. తొక్కి కాళ్ళు నొప్పులు పడుతున్నాయి..అప్పటికీ ఫాస్ట్ గానే తొక్కాను.. మీకు లేట్ కాకూడదని.. షార్ట్ కట్ లో వచ్చాను..అని చెబుతూ మెట్లు మీది నుంచి కిందికి వెళ్లి పోతున్నాడు.. బాబూ...నీ పేరేంటి అన్నాను..నవీన్ సర్ అన్నాడు.. సైకిల్ మీద వచ్చావా. అని అడిగా..అవును సర్.. ఉదయం నుంచి పధ్నాలుగు డెలివరీలు ఇచ్చాను.. ఇదే లాస్ట్ డెలివరీ..అన్నాడు..అతని కడుపు నింపుకోవడానికి అంత దూరం సైకిల్ తొక్కుకుంటూ బిర్యానీ తెచ్చి..మా కడుపులు నింపాడు.. ఇప్పుడు నాకు డెలివరీ తెచ్చిన హోటల్ ఎంత దూరం ఉంటుంది అని అడిగా.. నాలుగున్నర కిలోమీటర్లు ఉంటుంది...అన్నాడు.. అక్కడి నుంచి సైకిల్ మీదే వచ్చావా..అని అడిగా.. .. అవును సర్ సైకిల్ మీదే.. సరే వెళ్ళొస్తా సర్..మా అమ్మ ఇంటిదగ్గర ఎదురు చూస్తుంటుంది.. మళ్లీ పరీక్షలు దగ్గర పడుతున్నాయి..చదువుకోవాలి అంటూ ఈల వేసుకుంటూ మెట్లు దిగుతుంటే మళ్లీ నవీన్ అని పిలిచా..ఏంటి సర్.. అంటూ పైకి వచ్చాడు.. నువ్వు చదువుకుంటున్నావా..అన్నాను.. అవును సర్ బీటెక్ ఫైనల్ ఇయర్..కాలేజీకి వెళ్లి పర్మిషన్ తీసుకుని ఈ ఉద్యోగం చేస్తాను..అన్నాడు.. ఎంత వస్తాయి రోజుకి అంటే..ఎంత సైకిల్ తొక్కితే అంత సర్.. ఒక్కోరోజు ఆరు వందల వరకూ వస్తాయి అన్నాడు.. ఆ డబ్బులు ఏమి చేస్తావు అంటే.. ఇంట్లో అవే ఆధారం సర్..ఆ డబ్బుతోనే అందరం బతుకు తాం.. నా కాలేజీ ఫీజులు నేనే కట్టుకుంటాను..అన్నాడు..ఎక్కడో నాలో దాగి ఉన్న మానవత్వం అప్పుడు నిద్ర లేచింది...అతని చెమట చుక్కల్లో నాకు అసలైన జీవితం కనిపించింది.. అతని మాటల్లో తత్వం బోధపడింది.. ఒక్కసారిగా అతన్ని హగ్ చేసుకున్నా..ఎండిపోయిన చెరువులో నీళ్లు ఉబికినట్టు.. నా కళ్ళల్లోంచి కన్నీటి బొట్లు బయటకు రావడానికి ట్రై చేశాయి..జర్నలిస్టుని కదా ..కంట్రోల్ చేసుకుని.. అతన్ని సారీ..నవీన్ అన్నాను.. ఎందుకు సారీ చెబుతున్నానో అతనికి అర్ధం కాలేదు.. బిర్యానీ తిను నవీన్ అని ఒక ప్యాకెట్ ఇవ్వబోయా.కానీ అతను తీసుకోలేదు..వద్దు సర్..మా అమ్మ ఇంట్లో వండుతుంది.. ఇవాళ బిర్యానీ తింటే..రేపు తినాలనిపిస్తుంది..మేము బిర్యానీ తేవాలి..మీలాంటోళ్లు బిర్యానీ తినాలి అంతే సర్.. అంటుంటే.. అప్పటి వరకు కంట్రోల్ చేసుకున్న Microsoft 22K layoffs in January

Creating a thread in tech channel and copy-pasting from Microsoft channel since these tend to be harder for HR to flag. Goal here is to give people some heads up on what to expect and not fear mongering. - Layoffs are coming third full week of Jan. Likely 21st but these things can move around a bit based on last minute developments. So far it looks like it will all happen in Jan, unlike last year where they decided to split it. - It will be a sizable one. Satya and Amy want to cut 5-10% of the company. A little early to confirm but so far it looks like 5-10% will become a yearly undertaking into 2027. - Lots of org flattening (span of control changes) coming in 2026. They want to reduce the number of middle managers and increase IC ratios. - They will message it as changes needed to become more nimble and move like a start-up. All lipstick on the pig. Real reason is all short term profit maximizing decisions are catching up. CSAT scores are dropping across the board. AI infusion in our products are not well received by users. Real AI revenue is just not there. (People with access to usage telemetry, especially repeat usage - please share, if not too risky) - Leadership is worried about bad morale across the company but there is very little they can do to address it. They hope to slow layoffs in mid-late 2027 and hope morale improves. - It’s an employers market so don’t expect a lot of SSAs or high flexibility in negotiating RSU for new hires or those hitting cliff - Best thing you can do in current environment is save aggressively for a rainy day (no pun intended) and more importantly invest in yourself. Keep learning and up-skilling. Apply for roles even if it’s just to polish your interview skills. Reach out to your network and renew old connections (refresh that TTL) - Hate to say it but they will disproportionately target employees over 40. They will find some legal cover or excuse for this. - You cannot control what happens to you but you can be mentally and financially prepared for it. Wish you all the best.
