Few replies My colleague and her fiance went to India 2 weeks ago. My colleague has stamped student visa and doesn't need stamping but her fiance moved from OPT to H1B and needs stamping. At first they were not even sure if the wedding will at all happen because the guy wasnt able to find a slot until early November. And then he got a slot for Dec 17th, and after biometric his date got rescheduled to May! Just delay the wedding, i had my wedding scheduled in march'26 and my stamping in jan, and we are just delaying it, ive lost my hotel deposit of 25% but its better than being stuck, if you are together whats the point? No rush for the ceremony just do a court signing first and wait it out. -

Read in one reditt forum Visa stress is ruining my wedding and my mental health I am supposed to get married in early Feb. My visa dates are in Jan and my fiance's dates are in Feb a few days after the wedding. The recent announcements have created so much uncertainty and unnecessary stress on both sides of the family. My to be in laws are really supportive and they're willing to go with any sort of wedding, big or small, in US or in India to see us through this. But I just don't see it working out in any ways. We can't get married in US because if my fiance comes to US on a tourist visa with an intent to marry, it will be considered visa fraud. Further more, if she stays on tourist visa for a long time, it might create some complications with her eventual transfer to H4. If I leave for India, there's no certainty on if and when we'd be able to come back. Further more, if I get stuck, I have to delegate to someone else to manage my home / car / all other material things. If we delay the wedding, there's no guarantees on how or when the situation will improve. Given the track record of this administration, we can only expect things getting worse. This administration has created an impossible situation for us. This close to the wedding, we should have been stressed about all the prep & meticulously planning all the details of the wedding. Instead, I am spending my energy meeting with immigration lawyers and losing sleep over whether I should go to India or not.
