I am in a similar situation, although I am thinking of retiring and living on my wife's health insurance. I don't plan to return to India since all my investments are liquid, in the stock market, bonds, 401k, IRA Roth accounts. I think I motivated my wife to keep working that I am planning to retire.

Assumptions...assumption....assumptions. This is the problem which keeps lot of families poor. SAvings matter....but investments matter a lot more. If you are single income, you have Zero reason to be in US unless you have very high income. What is your plan in the end? I am seeing lot of single salary people moving back as its no use being here living with such low savings. Wives can earn in India. Many IT people wives don't do jobs, not that educated but still outearn their husbands. Whats the used of keeping them caged here? How do you think they can take care of family if something happens to you here?
