After living here in USA for a while, it feels so different every time I visit India. It feels like indian society in general is becoming more and more toxic over there. Atleast I can vouch for the soceity that I’m interacting with. It never was this materialistic and ruthless over there But when I express this opinion with well wishers. They are saying that I’m the one that is becoming softer by living in USA for so long. And this is how things have always been in India. Which version is true I wonder. Survival of the fittest culture is growing in India more. Kids r raised street smart now and their self obsession is praised (infact hailed) by parents as survival skills. Kids also think whatever thy are doing for survival is correct. No ethics, morals etc. Those are all not known or novice concepts. During our days, there used to be a subject called moral science taught in schools, atleast elementary. Now its no where to be seen. We are definitely becoming much softer due to the culture here. We put others perspective in place. In India, such is unthinkable. Everything is need based, a nice gesture, help etc. If thy think there is no use of you, ppl have no hesitation throwing you under the bus with no remorse.

Both are true. My dad said the same to me many times that I have become softer. it’s true coz we got used to a different society in US where day to day life is simple and easy. In India it’s a struggle and you have to interact with many people and deal with many things everyday. People in India have become more materialistic. There was a time when people used to worry about family values or spoiling parents name or worried about society when doing something wrong. Now they don’t care and if you see dynamics of the cities/villages have changed completely. 20-25 yrs back everyone in your village/colony used to recognize everyone. Not anymore. People have moved to other places. Younger people do k boot know everyone. Everyone is busy trying to make money and most people look for the easy way

Agree to disagree kind of situation. Like it depends on where we are living and what we are doing and what we are seeing. Simple ex: we can understand both younger and older generation and can live with them.
