Housing rents is a nuisance in india. I have a property 240 sq yards and built G+2+Penthouse and a shop. Total 6 apartments and 1 shop. IT cost me 1 cr to build (land cost not included) in 2014-15 with an intention to get rents. Renting is an issue finding good tenents. If you find someone decent, they leave after 1-2 yrs buying their own house or property. The ones remaining wont pay rents properly and leave without notice after 2-3 months default. If you give these to a rental agency, they will fill your apartments with prostitutes, and other anti social elements. Better buy some constant income paying ETFs or funds for income rather than head ache's like above. I think commercial real estate is better, but no experience with it.
