king president, former IT Minister, KTR has been spitting fire on CM Revanth Reddy for the last few weeks. His version is that Revanth Reddy is not the elected chief minister of Telangana, but a management CM who lobbied in Delhi to get the CM post. KTR carried the same approach again in his meeting with the BRS leaders today as he fired on Revanth. “Revanth is not a people-elected CM. If Congress went to the election with Revanth Reddy as the CM candidate, that party wouldn’t have even gotten 30 MLA seats.” KTR said and he called Revanth a “Gaalivaatam CM” who luckily ended up in the CM post. KTR commented that Revanth doesn’t have the stature of the verbal dignity to be the CM. While Revanth has been challenging KCR to come to the assembly and fulfil his opposition leader duties instead of trying to get sympathy, BRS, led by KTR is carrying their version that Revanth isn’t even the rightful CM for Telangana.

As the election battle intensifies, the anticipation of the alliance between Telugu Desam, Janasena, and possibly BJP is catching up. TDP and Janasena have announced their mutual list and are preparing together but BJP is stalling the key decision and throwing mixed signals. BJP was expected to join the triangular alliance after Chandrababu Naidu met Amit Shah in Delhi earlier but there was no progress on this front after that. On the flip side, BJP AP leadership, through Purandeswari announced that they are preparing for the election in 175 MLA seats and 25 MP seats in AP. BJP AP wing is preparing for a booth-level meeting with 16,000 party activists in Eluru on February 25 and this event is being attended by Union Minister Rajnath Singh. The party has announced that they are dividing the 25 MP constituencies into 5 clusters and preparing for the election. The party sources say they are expecting PM Modi also to attend their campaign in AP at a later date. At a time when BJP is expected to discuss and consolidate an alliance with Telugu Desam and Janasena if they have such intention, the party has thrown a twist and started to prepare for all the assembly and Lok Sabha seats. On the other hand, TDP and JSP are still holding a few seats in the alliance in case BJP comes along. There is a lot of suspense on whether the BJP will join the triangular alliance or if it will go alone. Though the party has zero representation in AP, it is keeping TDP, Janasena, and ultimately the AP people guessing about their electoral plan with their mixed signals.

Overall Kapus are higher numerically but the businesses and acreage are dominated by Kammas and Rajus and some Reddies. West Godavari accent is a bit more easy to understand than that of East Godavaris. You also see a Hanuman Statue in almost every village of East and west. Both of them consider closer to one another than say Krishna or Guntur districts. Sankranthi is celebrated in big way with west leading the big monies like in areas of Bhimavaram. Playing cards is also almost the norm. Women generally don't consume liquor unlike telangana. People in general have very good sarcasm. Krishna Bhagawan is more of a typical Godavari guy, and you will likely find more people like him. People will give importance to how you address them. Unless you know him 'garu' or 'andi' is almost to be used when you address someone. Fish and Prawns are consumed by most households (barring traditional Brahmins, Komatis). Sweets are also big part of tradition. Even when you visit someone place when someone died say for dinam, you are expected to bring sweets. Kottaiah kaja/Kakinada Kaja, Madata Kaja, Bobbattlu, Boorelu, Ariselu, Pokundalu, Pootharekulu are very popular in both districts. Most households have relatives on both sides of Godavari river. Kakinada people eat more sea food on ana average though. Aritaku Bhojanam is very much alive in both districts. Reddies and Kapus of East and West follow the custom of marrying in night to late early mornings and eating only vegetarian in Marriages unlike in Telangana.
