You can start a DS 160 - just name, passport number tho start chesi - do not fill anything else. 

Using that # you can schedule appointment. 

Approval vachaka DS 160 complete and submit. 

If possible submit the DS160 atleast a week before the appointment to avoid unwanted delays in processing.,

I think end date is mandatory in DS-160 form. 

Paina cheppinattu, just start DS form and leave it incomplete and book a date...adi better kada. Why worry to complete it now and submit with unkown end date?

Appointment book chesetappudu receipt number and PED aduguthadi, so u have to have it even to book an appointment. Can use the LCA end date (usually the case). But if uscis decides not to grant 3 yr extension, appudu bokka.
