Project Manager House work!!!

I am working under this desi project manager as a developer for the past 6 months now. He is asking me to put mulch in his lawn and help him put wooden floors in his house and fix back splash in the kitchen wall.

Every month, he does some home project and he ask me to help him in his home project. I live in an apartment and I don't have any home project.

He is telling me, other desi developers in the past had helped him and I am not helping him. I told him, I only get paid for the work I do at the office and I need my free time with my family on weekends.

Me and my wife are married for 2 years now and we are trying for baby. We want some personal time and I cannot spend my weekends on my manager home projects.

Is it normal in USA to do home projects for managers on weekends? I am new to US and this is my first project in USA.

Manager says, its normal here in USA.

Any thoughts and suggestions on how to deal with this?

I cannot leave the job for this in this market situation since I am in H1B. If I complain to HR it will affect my job. What to do? Any one faced this issue on H1B? Is it normal?

Please help 🙏

Are you working with desi implementation partners ?

Tell him that you need to spend some family time. You are not a slave working on minimum wage.
