Ground reality is always different from the news being presented. Its because media is always biased and they have their own agenda. My BIL works for UN and worked extensively for Afghan for 3-4 yrs between 2005-2010. Forgot exact yrs. Afghan people are really good. They love indians. But the policies they have against women have regressed them immensively. They got caught up in world politics. Their economy is not doing well. Indian govt has done a lot for them. Built hospitals and given good amenities for them. I met a few afghan families in US and they expressed their love towards Indians. I was quiet surprised. 

Hope they overcome their difficulties and prosper as a nation. It all starts with letting their girls going to schools and letting them work.

Afghanistan lo rural and urban divide is huge in terms of religion, culture, administration, tribal mindset etc… 

US messed up this country two times - once in the 80’s by arming the mujahideens and again the 2000’s… Afghans were in a very good position in the 70’s and 80’s.. urban areas were comparatively liberal..

Taliban may be good in certain ways, but the way they restricted their women to homes and limited to education and jobs is the worst. I wish them the best.
