Just got off a phone call with an NRI friend. After few minutes of regular chit chat he was talking about his parents new house construction and also was dissatisfied about being not able to find labour. Blamed the Andhra government for providing quality English medium education to children.

His parents are elderly and they had house help since a very long time even before I knew him personally. They used to pay a mere amount of 10k for wife and husband to stay at their home and help them with their daily chores. In 2021 they abruptly left saying they’re returning to their village and doesn’t want to continue working here. Recently his father contacted them again since finding CHEAP labour is almost impossible now a days, workers are getting the pay they deserve. He said his first child is in 8th class and second child is 5th class, both studying English medium in his village itself. Back in 2015 when they came to work as house help, their main reason was children education. They came to guntur to work and also give their children quality education so they don’t have to end up like them.

Today they’re very content with their life, the man Venkatesh is proudly working at his farm with the help of RBKs, the wife is looking after their house, the children have access to good quality education and they also have Aarogya Sree so they’re not at all worried today

My friend was happy this is happening, but dissatisfied about not being able to find dirt cheap labour to exploit
