Philosophy is the basis for religion. Science and religion are not independent of each other, they are interdependent. Religion came into existence because of hope, a hope for things that are out of your hand. It doesn't need to cloud your scientific inquisitiveness. If everyone who claims to be religious or non-religious can stick to their own beliefs without needing to proclaim or prove, the world will be different like you said. Atheist wants to say, according to science there is no religion. Religious will say, all this science is existing because of religion.
