Global entry = pre check free

Immigration status is not relevant for applying to these categories. GE includes TSA precheck and is slightly more expensive ($20 more).

See what's the current processing times, GE might take longer , but if you have any international trip coming you might get approved at that time.

If you are not planning to travel international a lot then tsa might be good.

If you are on H1b , eligible for both . If you take Global entry , you will get TSA as well. I applied in 2019 and it took almost 10 month . My spouse applied recently on GC , took one week hardly. You have to go for in person interview after approval , usually dates open up on First Monday of every month . Not sure what is the timeline for H1B now

Not true. I had Global Entry on H1B.

I don’t think you can apply for TSA pre-check on H1B. It is only for GC and Citizens
