my kid is kind of shy when some new face comes and talk to her it could be some other teacher in her school as well...

and let her introduce herself to other people

ask her about friends and make talkitive

Place her in team sports like soccer, so that she gets chance to interact more with group.

How old is the kid? Take him or her outside and have play dates
