YSRC begins attack on Naidu, ahead of pact with BJP

Even before Telugu Desam Party president and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu landed in Delhi to meet the top leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party including Union home minister Amit Shah, the ruling YSR Congress party began mounting attack on him.

While senior YSRCP leader and state education minister Botsa Satyanaryana said he would react only after the alliance between the TDP and BJP materialises, other leaders came down heavily on Naidu for changing colours frequently like a chameleon.

Firebrand YSRCP MLA and state tourism minister R K Roja recalled that it was the same Chandrababu Naidu who had made unsavoury comments against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. People have not forgotten what he had spoken about Modi, she said.

She pointed out that when Modi came to Andhra Pradesh in the capacity of Prime Minister, the TDP workers raised black flags and balloons and put up hoardings saying “Go Back Modi.” Naidu had even dragged Modi’s mother and wife into controversies for petty political gains.

“I am sure Modi would not have forgotten what Naidu had done to him. It is better he keep this opportunistic leader away,” she said.

Roja also recalled how the TDP leaders humiliated Amit Shah when he came to Tirupati by pelting stones at his car.

“He joined hands with the BJP in 2014, came out of the alliance in 2018 and joined hands with the Congress only to dump it later. Now, he is trying to join hands with the BJP again,” she said.

Describing Naidu’s attempts to forge alliance with the BJP again as the downgraded politics, the YSRCP leader said Naidu had no values in politics.

“For the sake of the chief minister post, he can stoop down to any level and join hands with anyone,” she said.

Roja said it was only after Lokesh and Purandeshwari prostrated before Amit Shah that Naidu could come out of the jail on bail in the skill development case.

“Yet, in the recent Telangana elections, the TDP leaders supported the Congress. Now, they are getting ready to carry saffron flags,” she alleged.

Another minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy said Naidu was running after the BJP leadership only after realising that he cannot take on the YSRCP alone.

“Even if some other person floats a new party, Naidu will not hesitate to join hands with him,” he criticised.
