lollilolli2020 Posted February 9, 2024 Report Posted February 9, 2024 Hello, I'm in a relationship with a single mother who resides in India. Last Christmas, she visited me, and we decided to get married and settle in the USA. We got engaged when she visited me and wanted to marry in 2024. The problem is she has custody of her child - a 14-year-old boy, and I'm not sure what my responsibility would be towards the child once we get married. She mentioned that she will bring a kid with her, and I have no issue - I love the kid, and we get along, but I do have certain assets in the USA, and we may have our own baby in the future. So I wanted to understand if I'm not the biological father of her 14-year-old boy, then what would be my responsibility? I would consult the lawyer, but I wanted to know if anyone has gone through a similar case and wanted to share their experience. I really appreciate any help you can provide. https://www.facebook.com/groups/630370187740345/permalink/1581851715925516/ @kevinUsa Quote
Joker_007 Posted February 10, 2024 Report Posted February 10, 2024 As per US law still he need to provide child support until the age of 18 and if you have a baby there is not restriction in US that your Step Son gets share from your property. But the mother will get her share of the US property. If you are not US citizen this adds more complication as Indian laws are bit complicated than this. Your step son can inherit some of your properties in India and US if they are ancestral properties or you bought the properties by selling the ancestral property ... Quote
