You don't need an otp to renew, I did this using my icici account and renew parents also. 

 

Also, if you just need otp, roaming is not required.

Not sms, you cannot send/receive sms to person, only otp free.

do you have siblings in India..if yes ask them to go to airtel cc and tell your problem.
