Tesla and Chinese competitor BYD both reported a plummet in sales in a further signal the electric car industry is flailing - after Apple also recently pulled the plug on its own EV project. The two firms, two of the biggest sellers of EVs worldwide, have been forced to drop their prices to increase demand for their cars as they battle fiercer competition, particularly in China. Almost every model made by firm BYD has had its sale price cut, accompanied by the slogan 'electricity is cheaper than oil' - as a price war continues to rage in China, which is the largest EV market in the world. There have been warnings for some time from the traditional car industry that average buyers are being put off buying electric cars because they are more expensive than petrol-powered alternatives and because of the recharge times and poor charging infrastructure. This comes after carmakers from Mercedes-Benz to Ford announced they were delaying or scrapping further electric vehicles (EVs) as demand slowed in Britain and abroad.

Without any govt intervention, if the prices of EVs are comparable to ICE vehicles, and if charging infrastructure improves significantly where any car can get a charger within 10 miles and can be charged to 80% within 10-15 minutes, then there is nothing stopping EVs.

At this time, that seem to take a few years.

Apudu govt padipoddi. Govt can't incentivize forever, you want them to be profitable on their own, other than Tesla no one is successful in this, that too with huge govt money. And EVs are not practical with current charging times. With so many gas stations you still spend 5 to 10 mins. Imagine if all EVs are on road and it takes an hour for each vehicle, Long lines everywhere.

People adopt no problem

EV boom is fading now....  reality is kicking in. ( stock prices will adjust slowly with gross, net ,fundamentals, catalysts )

It will not go away , EV is future for sure.  But people will look for all factors when buying a car like reliability, resale, safety, cost effective etc...

majority of them don't want a fun car .

Also it doesn't make in US, Many electricity providers burn gas, natural gas to generate electricity . so it's expensive in some states to own a EV

it is pipe dream for  US due to it being large country and need for more chargers per sq mile than India

India is densely populated, Car density is still low, so all the new buyer can adopt EV directly without even buying an ICE car

300 mile EV car does not mean much, but 450 kms on single charge is great for within city driving for work

if India comes with EV policy that can attract all investors, it is game changer for India. India learned from mistakes of China and US. which is create charging infrastructure ahead of pushing incentives for buying EV cars

look at what happened to cell phones, that is exactly going to happen with India with respect to EV

India has 240v outlets everywhere, all they need it amperage to be bumped up for faster charging

NACS port unte, other side electric wire ki esi pilferage tho koda charge cheyachu india lo.. this is the beauty you forgot

by the time all vehicles become EVs electricity will be so expensive. Currently govts get huge revenue from oil, where'll they get it from later? Not to forget the price of EVs itself. impossible for any govt to support this for long time.

govt or party will get their money regardless of EV or oil. ippudu Oil companies pay more, EV just a little. Near future lo both will have equal share. Distant future lo EV will spend bigger share to party or govt.

GOvt incentives will stop once larger public adapts EV, ippudu ante EV companies lobbying and environment gurinchi care cheese valla votes kosam unnayi incentives.

Macro ,micro economics and local ,global politics play role in this
