You should be dumb to work there for more than 3 /4 years. I joined in 2019 for $220 base+ equity + sign on bonus and jumped out in Dec 2023 exactly 4 years. Environment is very corrupt, it’s worst I worked. Now happy at SFDC

More layoffs at Tesla! EV major gives pink slips to staff in software, service teams

Last month, the electric vehicle maker had announced a 10 percent reduction in its global workforce, following which the firm fired senior executives and nearly 500 team members of its Supercharger business.

In another round of layoffs, billionaire Elon Musk's Tesla has given pink slips to its staff in the software, services and engineering departments, a report by Reuters, which cited a online tech portal Electrek, said.

Last month, the electric vehicle maker had announced a 10 percent reduction in its global workforce, following which the firm fired senior executives and nearly 500 team members of its Supercharger business.

According to the report, the automaker sent emails to its employees over the weekend as part of broader layoffs.

The company disclosed in notices last month that it will lay off more than 6,700 employees across its locations in Texas, California, Nevada and New York.

Tesla has been under pressure from dropping sales and an intensifying price war among automakers as elevated interest rates have slowed the adoption of electric vehicles.

The company is looking to focus on autonomous driving software, robotaxis and its humanoid robot Optimus, and Musk could be cutting its spending on certain teams to preserve cash for those projects, analysts have said.

Tesla disclosed last month it expects to book more than $350 million in costs in the second quarter for the mass layoffs. The job cuts also included an exodus of top executives, including Drew Baglino, Rohan Patel, Rebecca Tinucci and Daniel Ho.

The company said in April it was working on "new models" that would use its current platforms and production lines – a move that is expected to let it better control capital expenditures.

A man took to social networking platform LinkedIn to share that his sister had been laid off from Tesla, a month after she was promoted, after working at the company for seven years.

Electric vehicle manufacturing firm Tesla has been in the news, in the past few days, for laying off several employees across different departments.

A man took to social networking platform LinkedIn to share that his sister had been laid off from Tesla, a month after she was promoted, after working at the company for seven years.

"My sister had been with Tesla for 7 years. She got laid-off last Friday. The cold email read, "Unfortunately as a result, your position has been eliminated by this restructuring."

"She just got promoted last month and was very happy, packing to move from New Jersey to Washington DC. Back home, we all were so happy for her."

"But then, on 3rd May 2024, she tried to enter the office and her card was deactivated. She is not alone," the user wrote, attaching photos of the termination email to the post.

The man wrote that the manner of his sister's termination, with just one email, made her feel like an outsider.

"She’s been with Tesla for over half a decade and to find out like this. When you can’t enter your own office. Your entire team is down and out. Your ID card is taken away.

"They made her feel like an outsider with just 1 email. I don’t know how she is able to stomach it," the man wrote.

At the end of the post, the man said that his sister losing her job was a reminder of the human cost behind corporate decisions.

"She's gave Tesla 7 years and now it’s all zero. I don’t know about you, but this sucks! It's a clear reminder of the human cost behind corporate decisions," he wrote.

The man's post saw a lot of responses, many of whom reacted to the manner of termination from Tesla.

"That's an unfortunate thing to happen to anyone. She will surely find another job. After all, it was only a job that she lost. Be it Tesla or any from the FAANG gang or any other lesser known company," one user wrote.

"This is very sad. This is the result of hire & fire policy of few organizations where these companies have never considered their employees as real asset," another user wrote.

Earlier, a Pakistani-origin woman had also penned a note on LinkedIn after being laid off from Tesla and said that despite losing her job, her face would stay on the company website as a reminder to what she had achieved during her time there.
