I never indulge in kids decisions. I let them take decisions for themselves and support whatever decision they take.

Before that, I would advise, tell pros and cons, that’s it.

A friends kid joined Berkeley for medicine, changed path to data science and is working at oracle for 200k+ package.

Target 150k-200k by the time they start college. A lot of kids are getting smarter and joining community college and transfer to Universities after 1-2 yrs to save money I would support whatever kids decide.

Stock investments are a good way to make money. But need to stick to the investment principles. Everyone says invest in Index funds, but how many of us really do that. Not many.

One trick is to find companies that have a good trajectory and whose sales have been rising QoQ and YoY. Lots of tools available online to find such companies. Stay invested in those.

pre-med+medschool+residency+fellowship;

pre-med toh I think med school rakunnna you can do alternative careers like Nursing, physiotherapy, pharma, dentistry, pharmacy assistant dental assistant (this is looked down upon but paves way to be a dentist if you are persistent in your efforts).

medschool -- okavela ikkada rakunte mana tejams can go to Caribbean to get degree since our tejams don't have visa restrictions, later they can prepare for USMLE and clear for residency; getting residency is tough, matching process vuntundii , they say references help provided you have good USMLE scores, one of my frnd's frnd struggled to get into residency despite her dad being a doctor here may be he was not into academia or he was in private practice not sure how her experience was but konchem struggle ayinattu anipinchindii for her she did her med school in caribbean,

mari manollu inter avvagane st.kitts ki occhi medicine chesaru I have bunch of frnds but most of the couldn't make it becoming doctor for obvious reasons of not having visa status lack of sponsorships (in case of one frnd) one frnd got her residency but took lot of time; others USMLE lo fail ayyi, scores raka, some lost focus.

on contrary frnds from med school in India did very well by the time they are 31/32 they completed their fellowship too.

alternatives antava; manaki visa issues valla GC process lo struck ayyi; mana parents fed us either engg or medicine lanti route but there are lots of alternative careers where you can make money. also eedi workout avvakunta; IT sector vundii gaa
