Lokesh winning in Mangalagiri would be like BJP winning in Hyderabad. There is no precedent of winning for the party in nearly 40 years

Ya I agree. But it’s surprising to know that TDP hadn’t won there in the last 40 years despite being closer to their adda, Vijayawada.

It doesn't matter that it is near their adda, kammas in Mangalagiri are <5% @southyx can correct me

There are many constituencies with virtually no Kamma votes and TDP won number of times. After 1985, TDP didn't contest in that place till 2014. 2014 lo kooda just 12 votes tho odipoyaru.

Mangalagiri traditional ga ..before TDP.. Communist Vs Congress undedi. Communists strong place. Congress traditional votes kooda strong, more than 20% SC/ST votes with Reddy domination in some villages.

CBN to blame to large extent. NTR time lo NTR charisma tho gelicharu. 1994 lo Communists ki iccharu, they won with very good majority. After that CBN didn't encourage local TDP leadership...and BJP ki icchaadu 1999, 2004 lo. 2009 lo again Communists ki iccharu.

vja city expansion, increase in urban voters and rumours that vja-gnt will be the capital, padma saliya candidate who dominate the vote bank in that constituency... party evarina candidates from that cast won and from 2014  their dominance reduced due to city expansion

Amaravathi was a huge plus for lokesh.

 

Also many prominent leaders contested from the seat they have lost like kotla vijaya Bhaskar reddy lost kadapa in 1983 after being a chief minister but again contested in the same seat and won again.
