kevinUsa Posted May 5 Author Report Posted May 5 ..At the end of the day, he was simply an IT professional who, despite having completed his master’s degree, did not demonstrate a level of exceptional talent or uniqueness that would compel his employer to invest time, effort, or financial resources in sponsoring his Green Card. His performance or contributions evidently did not stand out enough for the organization to view him as indispensable or as someone whose long-term presence in the company would justify the complexities and costs associated with permanent residency sponsorship. Consequently, his employer likely deemed the process unnecessary, concluding that his role could be easily replaced or filled by someone else without going through the immigration formalities. Quote

I was laid off from my Tech job in 2024 as part of a company wide restructuring. Unfortunately, this happened at the end of the 6 year period of my H-1B visa. My company also revoked my green card application as part of the layoff. About 300 other employees were laid off along with me. I moved back to India in January 2024 and was excited to live in India after a decade of living outside the country. I've been unable to get used to life in India and it's been 1 year since I moved back here. I've lived in Delhi, Mumbai and Hyderabad during this time and here are some things I've observed - Really bad roads. Potholes galore. Nobody cares about fixing the roads. 2. Polluted air. Serious problem. I've been suffering from chest congestion at random times due to contaminants in the air I breathe. 3. Poor, crumbling infrastructure which cannot support a population of 1.4 billion people. 4. Never ending construction work. Half the roads are dug up forever due to ongoing construction work, which neither has a beginning nor an end. 5. Filthy white dust everywhere. It enters the lungs, eyes and ruins health. 6. Showers not working properly in apartment. This is in a prime gated community in Hyderabad. Maintenance is inefficient and can't do their job despite being called repeatedly. 7. People drive like animals. Who gives a about traffic signals? They will drive on both sides of the road and simply go over the divider. 8. Who gives a about pedestrians? 9. Have garbage in your car? Just open car window and throw it outside. God will take care of it. 10. Feel like peeing? You can simply pee on the street. No need of using a toilet. 11. Lack of basic civic sense in people. Never have I seen such a glaring lack of civic sense. Seriously, I'm done. I'm dying and devastated by this place. 2 Quote
