Ask them to correct the I94 as per H1 I797 expiry date. They will do it. RDU folks did it for me.

This happened to us. Gave recent I-797 approval document at POE but for some reason I-94 did not update. Went to deferred office and got my I-94 corrected. However they did not correct my wifes because we didn't extend her H4 since she was back in India when I applied for H1B extension in US. Immigration attorney filed for H4 Extension since deferred office did not extend.

Typically wifes H4 automatically extends to H1B validity at POE but officer screwed up mine.

No overstay. My attorney checked the I-94 status next day and notified me so I took care of mine within I-94 Admit until date and attorney applied for my wifes H4 Extension a week after that. So technically we never overstayed.
