Over a period of time, observing people and knowing myself, I realized most cases, a person gets 90% Father+Mother traits, both GOOD and BAD.

Most people I saw seem to dislike some qualities in their parents, but cannot recognize the same in themselves. Same with kids.

Life becomes a lot easy if we recognize these and put a plan to get over the traits we don't like.

Any one observed similar?

Sometimes some of the BAD traits in parents aren't actually bad if the circumstances are different.

One of the BAD traits in my parents is helping me grow as a person and avoid lot of BS.

Agree. It's all perspectives and situations.

A trait might be good in a situation but bad in another. As long as we are aware and polish them or work on them.

Another way to put my question is - There are some traits in parents that frustrate us. We have the same and we do same to our kids, not realizing. Being aware changes things.

Someone I know always complained about their mother for always picking and taking out frustration for being a soft kid. Doesn't do to the other kid who's headstrong. I see that person do the same to their softer kid. When I questioned, they are not even aware of the situation. It may not come under trait, rather behavior.

We are shaped by our experiences.. what we observed when we grew up.. you are not the same person you were when you were in school or college or in 20’s or even 30’s..

but the nature by itself comes from genes, be it your parents or uncles and aunts..

naku na mama polikalu ani andaru chinnappati nunchi anevallu.. both looks and nature.. now I think after all these years, he has changed a lot and I changed a lot..

Well it depends on whom the kids are missing ... if the Kid misses the father the chances of acquiring the traits is more and the vice versa.. i have seen cases like this more... just my observation..

It’s all about nature versus nurture. We can learn few odd things if we are exposed to different ambience and circumstances.

Even though my family is conservative, I was a serial womaniser when I was in 20s. I had some bad influence of my friends.

But things change eventually. When we are dislocated from such settings. Our original genetic traits kick in. Now I’m a very different person when I look at things in rear view.

Bottom line is…..

since we live in the same echo chamber as our parents, we inculcate a lot of their habits. Sometimes it’s subliminal and hard to even register in our own head.

Each person comes with their own individuality, I never saw anyone that has 90% parents traits, same apply with kids , world would have been a boring place if 90% traits are from their parents , each individual traits are unique to their own.

90% may be an exaggeration, but we do see a lot of our traits in our parents. Ignoring the % part, being aware of common bad traits and working on them is imp.
For e.g. My friend talks a lot about his father how he is dominating, does not let his mom talk, etc etc. He does not realize that he is exact same.
Does same to his wife.
When we are aware, we put a plan to correct them and become a better person for people around us.
