When both are hard to believe, why do one and not the other? On one side you're saying they don't want to make it obvious, and on the other side you are saying they made it obvious.

One is with TDP which is hardly relevant in National politics. This is not vajpayee era. Right now, TDP has no negotiating power with center. The only deal is to get power in Andhra, and to de-legitimize Jagan.  The other is with BJP, which is coming to power for the straight third term which in itself is a very rare thing. Didn't happen in recent times at all.

Still didn't answer my question. Why did they not make it obvious when they made it obvious? How can the elections be legitimate everywhere in the country except for Andhra Pradesh?

Everywhere? The same thing happened in Maharastra.

Wrt. Being obvious, I already said that part earlier. BJP came to power third term straight. Anti incumbency usually gets any party in power after 2 terms.Getting magic figure on their own will only make them look even more suspicious. They played it low key.
