Konebhar6 Posted June 6 Report Posted June 6 I normally avoid conference parties, but I tried every day at the Snowflake conference, and it's been terrific. Went there with a couple of colleagues. Made good connections. Talking about interesting work people are working on. Met a couple of CIOs of startups and ended up having conversations for more than an hour. I was impressed with a couple of OPT guys networking there and joined our conversation. Innovative way. IT was a free day yesterday, so makes sense. Have you tried it before? 2 Quote

Just bouncing off ideas/use-cases with other techies and in general technology direction. Quote

AWS summit being the free one. recently I had been in one of the conferences paid by my company -- there were good presentations about products from companies and some folks spoke about implementations of certain products in their orgs which were insightful, on the other hand companies shelling money to host off site conference parties at breweries and arcades blew my mind. I wish they had set money aside to make their products and support better than these off site parties to lure potential customers into subscribing their product. Quote

AWS summit used to be very good.. but of late, they are filled with students, job seekers and marketing ppl… nothing wrong in it but the audience have drastically changed.. conferences and marketing are a different budget for a company.. improving a product is an ongoing process.. these events also help them get feedback on their products too.. I actually talked to a datadog engineer at one event and gave him some suggestions on an issue we were facing.. they made that change after around 3 months after my discussion.. I guess they took my feedback seriously or they already had that on their roadmap.. 1 Quote

I guess they took my feedback seriously or they already had that on their roadmap.. we have been using a lot of Gen AI and snowflake to put together a solution for customer segmentation. We had better ideas than most product companies. A couple of people from other companies wanted to connect with us. Not many people including product managers have an idea about predictive analytics. They have no idea why it’s needed, and how they can include in their road maps. Everyone talks about Agentic AI but most companies can build them. They don’t need products. A lot of these will go bankrupt/close shop and the excellent ones will be bought by Big Tech. A lot of fascinating things happening. But a lot far from real good taking over. Quote

All work and no play makes jack a dull boy. 😂😂 Networking is a must and alcohol/partying helps. Quote
