Aadhar card question

Featured Replies

Been in USA for many years now. Visited India few times. But never applied for aadhar card. Now I have a need for aadhar card. Some people are saying that I have to reside in India for 180 days in order for me to apply for aadhar card. Is that true?

Please suggest. Thanks guys

Aadhaar Card enrolment is presently available to residents in India. OCI Cardholders who stay in India for a long time (over 182 days in twelve months immediately preceding the date of application for enrolment) and have an Indian address can also enroll for Aadhaar Card in India.

Not a OCI card holder here. Am I good? I do still have Indian passport. But did not reside here for 182 days in the last twelve months.

No one has a clarity on Aadhar card for NRIs. If you have an PAN card, just apply. You will get easily. No 180 day rule, nothing. I got for my entire family and suggested this for many ppl I know.

If you don’t have a PAN card, apply for it first and once you get it, apply for Aadhar.

You will be surprised how easy it is to get it. Go for it.

Aadhaar is meant only for residents of India, and one of the eligibility rules is that you must have stayed in India for at least 182 days in the past 12 months. NRIs who don’t meet this requirement usually can’t apply. If you do qualify, you can check enrollment centers, download, or update details through आधार कार्ड.
