If the inflation holds steady he will be forced to drop the rates around the third to last quarter of the year, not like 2% points but probably between 0.5% to 1%. It's not just him who decides the rate cuts there are 14 or 16 fed chairs and they all vote, he can influence them upto some extent but he can't unilaterally decide to hold the rates steady.. Even with powell as the chair by this time next year the rates will drop into the mid to high 5s..

Yes FOMC people are dumb and most of them are hawks , more doves need to be added into fed
