JAI_NTR Posted July 9 Report Posted July 9 Rajus don't convert to Christianity ,most converts from this list are reddies and kammas and kapus from coastal Andhra mostly and even many Brahmins have also converted ,but nowadays very rarely are oc castes converting ,most are sc/st's. Unlike what the other person has said, conversions in rayalaseema are very less compared to coastal andhra.they get more representation because of cm being from that region. Most of the missionary activity takes place in coastal Andhra like guntur Nellore krishna and godavari districts. And most of the time ,it helps sc/st people escape discrimination and will get monetary help to better their life. I don't see any wrong in converting to Christianity ,mostly because andhra isn't divided on religious basis and religion is more of an personal thing for people to believe in. many oc's have converted for political or monetary benefit and most are agnostic/atheist. Because andhra people don't identify as Hindus or Christians or muslims or indians but telugu people first(except for some delusional sects of muslims who believe they are straight from the middle-east,but most identify as telugu people). Very true. One of the funny thing I noticed is that, even after they convert, they want to choose brides/grooms from same religion & Caste combination. Like Kamma Christian or Reddy Christian or Kapu Christian. They don't prefer people from other caste even though they are Christians unless there are not many people from that caste. Never understood this. Quote
