Does receiving large amount as deposit into US bank account triggers any issue ?

One of my friend is asking me .. He is going to transfer 15K to my bank account..
(That was for sale transaction which I am not involved in the actual transaction).

If I agree to go with this ? As a third person, do I get into any trouble in future ?

It's Properly sale.. Looks like, the Seller / Buyer are trying to avoid tax..
& transact using the Gift Tax Exclusion to third parties & Seller would get the amount later on slowly.

AI gave this

For Receiver While you are free from any income tax obligation, the individual who gave you the money may have a filing requirement. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has a gift tax system in place that primarily affects the donor.

  • Annual Gift Tax Exclusion: For the tax year 2024, an individual can give up to $18,000 to any number of people without having to file a gift tax return. For 2025, this amount increases to $19,000.

  • Filing Requirement for the Donor: If the gift you received exceeds the annual exclusion amount for the year it was given, the donor is generally required to file a gift tax return (Form 709). For example, if you received $20,000 in 2024, the donor would need to report the $2,000 that is over the $18,000 exclusion.
