Pharma pays pretty good (may be not to the level big tech). It also depends on your field of specialization  though. I get paid  $165K in Upstate NY and that amount is over 2x the median household income here.

Too early to say now. Inka comments period undhi. If it goes "as is" it applies for new H1Bs, and maybe slowly they will expand it to renewals as well because you can't apply two different standards to same Visa class for a long time. If that happens appudu payroll batch ki paper ki pay penchali, papam vallaki inka kastam ayipothadhi.
