if he is rich and have good family support and privacy..he can go back

In America there is only one Trump… in India your neighbor, relative and office colleague is Trump… in my view immigration is least problem. Your friend will feel pain in the a$$ to raise kids in India. He will stuck in that matrix. I will never tell anyone to go back

One guy in my group is planning to put his house in the market already. He is sitting on 250k equity. His PD is in 2018. He doesn’t expect to last here in USA. He wants to be proactive before shitttt really hits the wall for everyone.  He said in the worst case he can always buy a house in the future when things settle down.

All other friends disagreed with him. We just want to wait and see. May be he is over reacting?

What’s your take on this situation?

It isnt clear if your Frnd wants to sell the house and rent out or willing to move back to India?

If it's later, obviously wise decision. If he continues to live in US and rent then that won't be bad idea if he plan on investing the profits wisely.

I see house in US as a long term rental property with mortgager being the pseudo landlord. Attaching to a home these days is becoming an outdated emotion. Your frnd may be smart enough to realize the freedom in case things go south. Nothing wrong in his approach.

Short term rentals are being stopped in certain neighborhoods also

So if one is leaving better to sell

Is he planning on selling his house bcoz he is leaving to India now? Or he plans to go in the future bcoz of supposedly diminished opportunities??

he is stupid if it is the latter.. unless he has a good plan to reinvest his gains

Can't time the market. If Interest rates go below 5%, prices will go up slightly or stay stable

I think there are high chances that the interest rate will be around 5-5.5% by end of next year

wake up bro.already new build lenders are giving 4-4.5% interest rate.No one is buying.affordability is the problem.home prices went up a lot but not salaries.Home prices will crash in many areas for sure in near future
