Before the start of the shooting, yes they trust the director.

After movie shooting started, THEY MUST believe the director. They have to in fact.

Just before the release, Hero will come to know whether his belief is/was right or wrong.

Content bagunte, they don't need any of these. Unfortunately, all big stars focus on Mass elevations, Catchy phrases/dialogues, Mass songs, but not really story or content.
