భారత్-అమెరికా మధ్య వాణిజ్యపరమైన ఉద్రిక్తతలు నెలకొన్నప్పటికీ, ప్రధాని నరేంద్ర మోదీ, అమెరికా అధ్యక్షుడు డొనాల్డ్ ట్రంప్ మధ్య వ్యక్తిగత సంబంధాలు బలంగా ఉన్నాయని కేంద్ర విదేశాంగ మంత్రి ఎస్. జైశంకర్ స్పష్టం చేశారు. ఇరు దేశాల మధ్య కొన్ని సమస్యలు ఉన్నప్పటికీ, ఇరువురు అగ్రనేతల స్నేహబంధంపై ఆయన చేసిన వ్యాఖ్యలు ప్రాధాన్యత సంతరించుకున్నాయి.

ఇటీవల అధ్యక్షుడు డొనాల్డ్ ట్రంప్, ప్రధాని మోదీని 'తన మిత్రుడు', 'గొప్ప ప్రధాని' అని ప్రశంసించారు. దీనికి ప్రధాని మోదీ కూడా సానుకూలంగా స్పందించారు. ఈ పరిణామాల నేపథ్యంలోనే జైశంకర్ తాజా వ్యాఖ్యలు చేశారు.

రష్యా నుంచి భారత్ చమురు కొనుగోలు చేస్తుందన్న కారణంతో పాటు ఇతర అంశాలను చూపుతూ, అమెరికా ఇటీవల భారత దిగుమతులపై 50 శాతం టారిఫ్‌లు విధించిన విషయం తెలిసిందే. అమెరికా చర్యను భారత్ తీవ్రంగా వ్యతిరేకించింది. ఇది "అన్యాయమైనది, అహేతుకమైనది" అని వ్యాఖ్యానించింది.
