Some groupings within Kapus were transformed into Reddies, in Telangana and Rayalseema regions ani chadivanu. Kondhari Reddies cheppaga vinnanu kooda.

Kaapus are reddies.

Today kaapus i.e telagas ,balijas ,pedha kaapus grouped into kaapu category for political benefits but weren't really called as kaapus for the most part.

In rayalaseema no one calls balijas as kaapus ,they are called balijas or in Tamil Nadu they are called balija naidu.

It is a confusion among many people as reddies were referred to as kaapus some people relate that to present day kaapu sub groupings.

Are all Kapus, Reddies? Peddha Kapu/Naidoo in Andhra? How about Ontario, Munnuru Kapus, toorpu Kapu?

I mean kaapu was originally used to refer to reddies.

Ontari ,telaga ,balija weren't really referred to as kaapus historically.i mean before 16th century.

Kaapu was mainly used to denote reddi subcastes.

I am assuming pedda kaapus are landed gentry in the godavari delta from telaga grouping who got a lot of land during British or maybe vijayanagara times and hence they got that name close to British names.

even raajus of godavari came from telagas of godavari,pedda kaapu ,telaga and all dominant landed gentry castes in godavari probably came from one grouping .

I don't know why they grouped balija into that group as they are present in a completely different region ,maybe because they had similar role in Vijayanagara kingdom.
