One more example gold drops 45% after recession

📉 Here's what actually happened:

  • Gold peaked in September 2011 at around $1,920/oz (at that time, an all-time high).

  • 📉 By late 2015, gold had dropped to around $1,050/oz.

  • That's a decline of about 45%

Scenario is not that different .... only thing that is different from past is trump ... Tarris, Firing fed governors, Trump trying to control fed ... all making gold to go up sharply

Once this all settles and and job market is strong ... Fed tightens policy .... gold could fall sharply. (easy 20 to 30% drop)

Gold mining stocks aren’t making new highs with gold .... if they start going up then the uptrend looks healthier or else this temporary .... gold may go down in future

Today’s Fed minutes point to two cuts in 2025, so I don’t expect a major drop in 2024.

With Powell likely leaving in 2026, additional easing could keep gold rising with small pullbacks ...$5,000 is plausible.

Don’t go all-in.... limit gold to 10 to 20 % of your portfolio given its history of drops.

it’s trading like a meme stock for now

CPI—higher inflation → gold go down (cuts less likely).
NFP—weaker jobs → gold up; stronger jobs → gold down.

If the Fed keeps easing, gold remains higher.
