Still better than having single income H1Bs. L1 spouses are free though, it's only applies for L1 candidate. So even better. Quote

Getting Canadian P.R and TN visa to work in u.s might be better than h1b or L1 , only problem is you might need to work in Canada for low pay for some years before getting P.R. Quote

Canadian PR is almost impossible if they're to apply for a PR from outside Canada. Even those that are working in Canada through TFW program are finding it increasingly difficult. Quote

You need Canadian citizenship. It takes some 4 years atleast after you get a PR. Even then, it's restricted to occupations listed in NAFTA. All IT workers cannot benefit from it, as their occupations are not NAFTA listed. Most use occupation codes of Systems Analysts, Management consultant for a TN but they're heavily scrutinized as well. Unlike H1Bs, TN are not class protected, meaning in case of a denial you don't have any legal recourse like H1B has, and most importantly TN is a non immigrant visa. You cannot petition for a green card using it. Some nationalities who don't have wait times (typically less than 2 years) may benefit from it, as they get a green card before renewal, but usually high chances of denial when you go for a renewal (after 3 years) if you have a green card application in process Most of the Indians that are here on H1s mentally want to settle in US for their own reasons, this route will crash that hope. TN works for someone like me, who picks freedom and doesn't care much about green card (My employer offered me L1, if I work for 12 months in Canada remotely, and port me into the US on an L1; it could have opened up green card under EB1A and potentially a green card. I gave up that for a TN because that year I was saving 10 lakhs INR in taxes). I want to move back to India anyway, as my parents get older. So I didn't care much. Or for someone from India with a spouse having CDN citizenship as well, and don't want to buy a mortgage in the US and eventually want to move back to India or Canada. Quote

Green card in u.s is useless if you have canada citizenship ,u.s is just for earning money . You can also do remote work. Working at a tech company in Canada is worse than india ,if it takes that long then it's better to stay in india itself ,you will save more in india (if you are working for top companies ). Quote

That's what I think. DB members have ton of other reasons though (weather, work life balance, corruption, reservation, Quality to life, chepthe chata list). Each to his own. Canada pays good if you work for AMERICAN CORPS. Canadian corps are dog$h1t. I worked for both, so I can tell that. One thing I'd say is as long as people figure out having 100% ownership of assets with out debts in India, they're pretty much in good shape. Debt slaves even in North America or India should remember that the REAPER IS COMING TO GET THEM. It's just matter of time. Quote
