If you are doing stocks or related things, speed matters. Edge computing valla finance sectors that need higher computational speeds will want to be close enough to a data center. Quote

You don't have to live by a data center, as long as you are close enough, you will get finance related infrastructure. It wont help communities becasue most of the building material come from China, equipment from Europe and USA and skilled labour from China and South Korea.. There might be a great uptick for local restaurants which are owned by Kommas. Definitely it wont create jobs paying 1 Lakh INR per month for Engineering grads. Quote

There will be an uptick in solar projects and financial services companies around the location of a data center. See similar scale data centers in the US resulted in 100k+ jobs in a decade. Quote
HugoStrange Posted October 15 Report Posted October 15 I work in Data Center Construction, here is the reality. 54% is electric, mechanical & plumbing equipment cost - will be there for Data centers like generators, transformer, switch gear, Power distribution units, chillers etc. This does not include GPU's or CPU's or servers. 36% is for construction in USA means it will be less in India. Rest land and other stuff. It will take around 8years for 1GW projects. There will be 3 to 10 data centers depends on their design. If they find the right resources and equipment (major hurdle in every project as wait times are close to 5years) they can finish in 5years. ee Electrical, mech and plumbing equipment are from companies like siemens, ABB etc. I dont know where they are getting manufactured. while construction mostly it will be labor jobs Labor jobs will be around 5000-7000 jobs per year Construction jobs will be 500 ( Civil engineers and managers ) it will be good for Electrical , plumbing and mechanical guys ( ITI guys ) Once Data center is up and running it will be around 200 jobs for the campus like operations teams, Technicians and management. I am not including security or janitorial staff. P.s: I like data center coming to AP, hope in future my company does one too in AP so that I can move there. Quote
