The bus reportedly had permission only for seating service, but it was illegally converted into a sleeper bus. This is a serious violation of transport rules. Authorities also found that the same bus had 16 pending challans. According to the rules, if a vehicle has more than 10 pending challans, the owner must face a charge sheet and the vehicle should be seized. The owner can get it back only after appearing in court. But despite these violations, the bus was still allowed to run freely on the road. That same bus met with an accident and caught fire, taking 19 innocent lives. This incident has raised big questions about how such illegal operations continued without action. Transport officials are now under pressure to explain how this bus kept running despite so many pending cases and safety violations. An inquiry is underway. Quote
