Here is my take....

US has 3 things to its advantage that Britain, Spain and USSR of those times didn't have

1. Best and Brightest People from all over the world still want to come

2. Has huge land mass and has natural assets in excess of its debt

3. Robotics and automation would lead to production in United States

The country which has a greater chance of collapse is actually China

1. The Best people don't want to move to a communist country

2. Its main source of revenue is from manufacturing for the world which would get eroded due to lower fertility rates and countries manufacturing on their own using robots.

1. The best and brightest will move to wherever there are better opportunities. It doesn’t matter what politics they do. Even our Indians go to Russia and China to study and work, though a small % compared to US. Indians go everywhere.

2) Land mass is of no use as the land is not much fertile. All US produces is Soy and Sugarcane. Almonds too, but that is less. US feeds itself with imports from Mexico and other Latin countries.

3) Production in US is very limited. Even assembly lines are limited. They moved most of the manufacturing to Mexico and Asian countries. Even with automation, they are doing it in foreign countries instead of in U.S.

4) China learned its lessons from the history. They are not involving in military conflicts anywhere. They are not invading Taiwan even though they can take it very easily, given their military power. They are not moving out of production and also building a knowledge based economy. They are building things cheaper and better and getting more value out of the money spent on defense and other areas.

5) Biggest issue for US is its debt spiral and social unrest. Trumps idea of reducing the trade deficits and cutting govt expenses, cutting federal workforce , reduce wastage, Doge, etc are all in good faith but done the bad way and never explained properly to the public.

1) Sure they do......but those opportunities are currently in USA. Indians go to China as well...but not the best ones. My 3 top classmates went for top universities in US and are happily settled. They received full scholarships.

2) "The total estimated worth of U.S. natural resources is approximately $45 trillion, positioning the country second globally behind Russia. This value is driven by abundant resources including coal (with the world's largest proven reserves), timber, natural gas, and various metals like gold. Other significant resources include oil, rare earth elements, copper, and freshwater.

Key U.S. natural resources and their value

Timber: Millions of acres of forests provide significant timber resources.

Metals: Deposits of gold, copper, and iron ore are substantial, along with rare earth elements essential for electronics and clean energy.

Oil: The U.S. became a net petroleum exporter in recent years, supported by extensive oil deposits.

Freshwater: The U.S. possesses abundant freshwater reserves.

Coal: The U.S. has the world's largest proven reserves, a major contributor to its overall natural resource wealth.

Natural Gas: The development of shale gas extraction has transformed the U.S. into a major exporter.

Global ranking

The U.S. is ranked second in the world for the total value of its natural resources, with an estimated value of $45 trillion.

Russia ranks first, with its value estimated at $75 trillion. "

And this is excluding the land mass below the Sea that countries started to explore.

3) Look at Tesla Giga factories. With automation, its easier to build in USA. They recently manufactured the first ever magnet after 30 years in US. With robotics, US would focus on self reliance because of the issue it had with China. Ofcouse there will be lot of manufacturing in Mexico as well.

4) Chinese average age is 41 years and their economy is hurting.

"China's population declined for the third consecutive year in 2024, with the total number of people falling by 1.39 million to 1.408 billion"

Many young chinese workers have been moving back into villages as the wages in cities were not livable. As I said, their major revenue comes from being the manufacturer of the world. Many companies have already started moving to other countries....even India. Indian companies have been hiring Chinese to come and teach as to how to use their machines and even reverse engineer. The shift has been happening.

And Rare earth metals are actually not rare. We just need better processing technology and things have been improving on this front. We are starting to make our own batteries.

5) Public are bunch of idiots. They would never understand. No political party would remain in power if they explain things as people who actually understand are less than 10%

overblown fears but debt worries are real, They are caught in bad options, I'm guessing they will explore multiple options to reduce this debt with tarrifs, crypto, inflation, gold etc, all of these options will put pressure on dollar

Lot of folks have wild predictions on dollars, but my take is people will continue to invest however dollar could depreciate over the next 3-5 years due to all the methods to reduce/stop debt from spiraling out of control

How much depreciation is the question, give that they are the biggest economy now I'm guessing 20-30% depreciation over the short term, this would mean most things like stocks, crypto, real estate, gold will continue to climb prices (there could be corrections in between) but most likely they will continue to climb over time

Rupee is another question altogether, honestly our country is not in a good situation however external impacts are still not severe and I'm guessing in 1-2 years we will mostly be ok, so Rupee could slightly appreciate or may be stay flat over the short term

my worry like others is :Imagine if you have cash and dollar depreciates, it could cut down your savings by a good margin especially if you are planning to go back to India, hope it doesn't come to that

also whatever the case is, I think productivity with AI/Robotics will be so good that it will result in massive massive job losses, may be entire industries gone in a few years, most people will get some credits/income by 2030 from govts, India losses could be slower due to cost advantage but if dollar depreciates a bit it erodes a lot of advantage,  eh okati ki mundu mundu not so good days due to few jobs and high competition for them

If US goes down, it will take everything else with it. NOT HAPPENING. Desert money is completely invested here. $ is strong though its monopoly is coming down. Crypto is also the brainchild of US.
Debt is a concern and US seems to be printing it continuously.
overall $getting weak and debt are concerns but US will prevail. These kind of theories are always there.

Frankly US is in collapse mode but people don't realize it, that's by design.

When your entire economy is looked from a lens of stock market all you need to maintain is that stock price. But internally US is already deteriorating.

the best and brightest will come to US, but the population will be replaced.

It's like a company takeover... you'll have the same name but the Chinese or Russian will run the shots. US as a dictating superpower is gone case
