I have not been to TX much, so don’t know about the demographics there much. Pros - area feels less crowded cos of the size to people ratio - people are somewhat laid back compared to rest of country, especially the rat races in East and West coasts - everything is surprisingly affordable even though typical salaries are less compared to rest of the country. - great tex me food for less for breakfast, brunch or lunch, dinners etc. - community is friendly depending on where you choose to live. Rich mex heritage folks are friendly, rest of the crowd - depends on your life style choices - lots of gujju people settled in late 90s and early 2000s in motel businesses so temple community, holi community, desi movies community etc good. Cons- - absolute hole weather, paint boils on park benches, car hoods, thin frame specs or contacts. Heat driven fevers, dehydration, are common. After this heat Ramagundam or Chennai type heat will feel like jaabili. 😂 - depending on life style choices snakes, scorpions, wild pigs etc wild life and garden life can be deadly. - mex hoods are more deadly compared to other hoods in Chicago, bronx ny etc, noisy and wild, latam other mix populations are somewhat ruthless, nuisance causing. - tricky to find good schools. - traveling to houston or San Antonio for all major events, major desi shoppings etc can be painful as everything is far far away. Even grocery runs take away minimum 45-60 mins sometimes depending on neighbourhood - IT and other job oppties somewhat rare, not sure for medical, everyone either works in energy (oil and gas), government jobs or academia. 1 Quote
